Jumping head first into the deep end of parenthood in the 21st Century has provided me with some strange discoveries and revelations. \u00c2\u00a0One of which is just how many nursery rhymes and children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s songs you can find on Youtube. \u00c2\u00a0Combined with a Chromecast, this is actually pretty great. \u00c2\u00a0It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s much more controllable than TV, more convenient, and can be used in varied doses to fill gaps of time in a semi-educational way. \u00c2\u00a0Many of them are incorporating CGI instead of 2D animation (one channel in particular<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0<\/b> is actually really great at this). \u00c2\u00a0Others are mediocre but forgivable. \u00c2\u00a0But I want to talk about the third category: the WTF-inspiring nightmare fuel that crops up in the Related Videos section of otherwise reasonable content.<\/p>\n

(Caveat: You\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll notice that many of these videos are over an hour long. \u00c2\u00a0That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s common for kid\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s songs; long medleys to reduce the number of interactions with the Search bar. \u00c2\u00a0I actually kind of like it, but for your purposes, just watch the first song in each)<\/p>\n

Idle Hands<\/h4>\n

Finger Family is okay for a kid\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s song. \u00c2\u00a0It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a song about all the fingers on your hand. \u00c2\u00a0It doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t really teach much beyond that, but it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s still mostly harmless. \u00c2\u00a0Here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s what a normal one looks like, for reference (I had never heard this one as a kid).<\/p>\n
